Everything you need to know about Data Management Summit
The event was born from the impulse of its founders at a time when the Data Management landscape offered many events with more marketing or digital transformation oriented approaches. At Synergo! we were looking for a technical event to attend and support, when we saw that no event seemed to have this focus we talked to customers and suppliers to see if there was any possibility to fill this gap. All this crystallized in 2018 with the first Data Management Summit at the Polytechnic University of Valencia at its Gandía campus. From there we reached a brilliant 2019 edition “scaling” in Italy and this 2022 edition is one of the most important in the sector for content and professionals. For the first time in 2021 we will be able to have an international edition entirely in English. In 2023, seeing the great expectations of public administrations on Data Management, we decided to undertake a spin-off of the event dedicated to PA after having successfully held a mini PA event in 2022 in Madrid.
From this point on the event has scaled up with the creation of a new itinerant format in addition to the national event. The data management summit tour is designed to bring the experience of hybrid nation events to other cities and other communities.
From the year 2024 we have also decided to give the possibility to others to develop the concept of the event in other countries not only in Europe. We have two active chapters in Mexico and Ecuador and other “forming chapters” and soon we will have other opportunities for the community of data management.

Dogmas
From the first moment, we decided not to fall into the schemes of other events of these characteristics, hence the creation of what we internally call the “Dogmas of the DMS”.
Technical event: The event has a technical approach and therefore we select the attendees rigorously by checking one by one the profiles of those registered (that’s why we call them candidates) and we do it by checking their Linkedin profile so it is mandatory to enter it when registering for the event. Only those registered will be able to enjoy the event.
Free event: We do not want the DMS to be a paid event. The business model is based on the participation of sponsors who cover the costs of the event, among them Synergo! who offers the work done by the organization.
Only company speeches are allowed: We do not allow speeches from vendors, solution providers and consultants (unless they introduce a topic of general interest and do training). We do not want “evangelists”, we think that for the type of technical event it is not necessary to keep this type of speech in the event. Sponsors can suggest a client company to give a speech, but vendor speeches are not allowed. Vendors can actively participate in the panel discussions, as it is interesting to learn about the approach to trends and the future of the data world.
Agnostic approach: We think that in this kind of events it does not make sense to talk about technology, but about solutions, ideas, experiences. That is why our approach is technology agnostic.
Alignment with DAMA: We believe in the DAMA-I Framework and our event, although it is not a DAMA event has a close relationship, many associates of DAMA Spain and the other chapters, members of the board of directors participate actively in the good development of the event.
Group dynamics: Since the first edition it was the most important moment of the event since we give the protagonism to the attendees who actively participate in the generation of knowledge. These dynamics make the event really participative and generate collective knowledge.
Round Tables: Each edition proposes different round tables always from a technical perspective, oriented not only to the hype of the moment but rather to concrete requirements that companies and institutions can present in terms of data management.
